My name is Deep Mistry and I am a rising sophomore. I have had the amazing opportunity to Co-op at Honda on a double-term rotation for the summer of 2023 and fall of 2023. I had very little confidence going into this work opportunity however I knew this would be a great chance for me to learn valuable skills and gain knowledge of the automotive industry. From a very young age, I have always been very fascinated with cars. Any opportunity I would get I would be on Google Images just looking at different cars and learning about them. That passion quickly guided me down the engineering path and with that passion I was able to live my dream of working closely with cars.
At Honda, the culture and atmosphere is very different than what you would expect from such a big corporation. At Honda, you get to explore different paths involved in the automotive industry. During my time at Honda, I worked at the Alabama Automotive Plant (AAP). AAP is the second largest Honda plant in North America, and they prioritize manufacturing Odysseys, Ridgelines, Pilots, and Passports. My project revolved around the new model department. I was tasked to analyze drawing reviews of new model parts and determine more effective ways to complete them and make drawing reviews less tedious for my co-workers. I was given the freedom to collect data from all of the Honda automotive plants in North America. At the end of my term, I will present my data at Marysville Automotive Plant (MAP) in Ohio.
At the of writing this, I am only two weeks into my Co-Op and already I have learned so much. I am loving the amazing team here at Honda, and I cannot wait to gain so much valuable experience and meet some amazing people along the way.
A little about me, I am a huge car nerd and I love to watch F1. I am a Redbull Racing fan. I am also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of my favorite tv shows are; Friends, The Office, Lucifer, and Brooklyn 99. I encourage everyone of you to take advantage of any opportunities or find a way to create an opportunity to make your dreams come true.
