Profile

My name is Katie, and I am currently a senior majoring in computer science with a minor in cybersecurity. I have completed a 14 month co-op with Bridgestone Americas top producing TBR (truck, bus, radial) tire plant in Morrison, TN. I have since returned as an intern for the summer semester of 2023. During my co-op I was tasked with the consolidation of two large legacy applications for the mixing department into a single application. I was also responsible for investigating issues within our environment and enhancing applications in production as needed.

My time with Bridgestone allowed me to gain invaluable experience that has helped me grow both personally and academically. It also helped me grow my professional network and thus open the door to some amazing opportunities that I otherwise may not have had. I was able to save enough money to help pay for school once I returned, and so I was able to completely focus on school without the added stress and responsibility of a job.

I was very intimidated by the idea of a co-op or internship when I first started looking for one. I think what helped me overcome this fear was speaking with other students who had interned about their experience. I would encourage anyone who is feeling this way to reach out to one of us!

I am an avid reader and I love to hike when I have the time and energy for it. I enjoy gardening and bird watching. I also really enjoy coffee and tea.
