Profile
I did my co-op with UPS in their Aircraft Engineering department in Louisville, KY. I worked specifically with Powerplant Engineering, the group responsible for the engines of our airplanes. I spent most of my time analyzing FAA and OEM documents to create UPS Engineering Orders that we used to show compliance with government regulations. I also worked on a few side projects, such as tracking components for Rolls-Royce, GE, and Pratt & Whitney engines in excel, helping transfer legacy documents to a new system called Maintenix, and general work for the engineers when they needed help.
Working for UPS has been an incredible experience. There is a reason why it is widely considered one of the best employers. I’ve learned so much, not only about how aircraft engines work, but about becoming a professional, working in an engineering office and how large companies like UPS operate. It also opened doors for employment after graduation, not only because former UPS co-ops are the department's top targets for open job positions but also because of how good working for a company like UPS looks on a resume.
Doing a co-op also helped me grow as a person indirectly as well. Living in a city where you know no one and nothing about on your own really forces you to mature and branch out. I’ve become incredibly independent living on my own and improved my social skills in having to force myself to try new things and meet new people.
I am a rising junior majoring in aerospace engineering. For fun, I love to play guitar and video games, watch sports, hang out with friends, stay active, and learn new things.
