Profile
I have completed a ten-week internship as a manufacturing engineering intern with General Dynamics Mission Systems in Marion, VA, where combat vehicles, aircraft, and other advanced defense systems are engineered and manufactured. During my internship experience, I was able to focus on aircraft radomes. I was able to work on the F-35 and C-130 which are fighter and cargo aircraft used by the United States Air Force. I was tasked with several different responsibilities such as gathering test data, implementing new quality control procedures, revising technical documents, and providing engineering input to operators on the manufacturing floor when they encountered issues
My time at General Dynamics Mission Systems provided me with valuable experience that I can carry with me into future experiences and my career. I was able to learn a lot about industry and working as a contractor, as well as how to apply what I have learned in school in a way that is practical and helpful to those who will be implementing my new ideas.
I have been fortunate to work in the Office of Engineering Professional Practice as a work study student before moving into a role as an ambassador. My time working as a work study in the EPP office showed me just how many students complete an internship or co-op, and just how many companies are seeking interns and co-op students. I also learned that it is never too early to begin seeking these professional experiences!
I am a member of the University of Tennessee club fencing team, and I enjoy all sports (Go Lady Vol Basketball!), Star Wars, being outdoors, and spending time on my family farm back home in Southwest Virginia.
