Profile

I have completed 4 Co-Op rotations with Bosch Home Appliances at the Refrigerator Technology Center in Oak Ridge, TN. With this Co-Op experience, I have had the opportunity to work for two departments and with several different teams. During my first rotation, I spent a semester working in the Quality Department. Some of my main responsibilities included managing the part return process and analyzing data. During this semester I advanced my Excel skills and learned how to use PowerBI. My next three rotations were with the Development Department where I had the opportunity to work in the Refrigeration Lab, with the Cooling team, and with the Ice and Water team. I learned about the product lifecycle, and I assisted in product design using CAD. In addition, I got to complete my own independent projects with the guidance of experienced engineers. My Co-Op with Bosch Home Appliances has given me a well-rounded work experience where I have learned many valuable engineering skills and industry knowledge.

My favorite part about working a Co-Op is making correlations between what I've learned in school and what I'm doing at work. Completing a Co-Op has allowed me to gain a better understanding of how to apply the skills I've learned in class and to also expand on these skills. Each semester at work included increasing responsibility and challenge. My work assignments have also been a very valuable part of my education, because they have given me a better perspective on what I am interested in doing after graduation. Finally, this experience has given me the valuable opportunity to learn from and network with skilled engineers. Not only have I improved my technical skills, but I have also improved my leadership and communication skills. Because of these reasons, I highly encourage students to complete work assignments while working towards a degree.

I want to be an engineer because I love science and I love being challenged. Outside of school, some of my interests include doing puzzles, staying active, and spending time with friends and family. I am a firm believer that hard work pays off, so I encourage all engineering students to seek opportunities that challenge themselves and to not give up on their goals. Most importantly, I encourage students to ask for help from others when they need it. Overall, I am thankful for my Co-Op experience, because not only has it helped me develop my engineering skills, but it has also formed me into a well-rounded individual.
