Profile
I have completed a spring/summer co-op with DENSO, a leading tier 1 auto parts manufacturer, at their body electronics plant in Maryville, TN. Since then, I have also started an internship with TVA in their power operations unit for the summer of 2024, assisting the hydro-power plants in East Tennessee.
While at DENSO, I was exposed to the manufacturing industry and gained lots of valuable knowledge about the processes to reduce material waste, delays, and defects. This experience taught me the fundamentals of several industry-standard techniques that will give me a head start in future positions. While I was initially hesitant to take this position at DENSO, as it would cause me to graduate a semester later, I am extremely grateful for the amount of professional and social growth this job has given me. I was able to take the lead on my own project of creating a new process to reduce the verification time of software updates for body modules. In addition, I was able to assist our location in a project to transition to a new database.
Although I am just starting my TVA internship, the amount I’ve learned about the intricacies of power generation and the grid is astounding. I would highly recommend to anyone that they complete a co-op/internship and gain first-hand, real-world knowledge about what their future job as an engineer could look like.
Outside of work, I relax by playing strategy/RPG video games, watching movies, and building Lego's. Whenever I’m feeling more adventurous, I always enjoy taking hikes in the Smoky Mountains and trying new foods from different cultures.
