Profile
Knoxville, TN
I had a yearlong co-op with Nissan Motor Company in Smyrna, TN, which consisted of three rotations with the Electrical Process Engineering Team. During my co-op, I had the opportunity to support the launch of many major vehicle changes to the Rogue, Pathfinder, and Infinity QX60 to name a few.
I chose to co-op because I thought having some experience and exposure to what I was interested in would help me determine what I want to pursue after I graduate.
One significant lesson I learned during my co-op that I really value and still relevant is being adaptable. Regardless of situation or what is at hand, being flexible is a valuable skillset that can be applied both in an academic or professional setting.
Participating in co-op has bettered me to be a better engineer due to the fact that I can see how the courses taught at UT strongly correlate to the real world applications.
If you are debating on whether to participate in a co-op I would strongly recommend to do so. A large majority of employers who hire new college graduates look to see if you have previous work experience. And a co-op will have a variety of projects or one big one for you to fill out on your resume as well.
When not busy studying or working, I enjoy playing disc golf, watching horror movies, and hanging out with friends.
